Most people nowadays want a pet they can live with, cuddle with, and even become best friends with. For the cat lovers, hamster junkies, and rabbit fans, they want that cute animal to cuddle with, but can also walk away from them too and the animal won’t expect too much from them. Now, for the dog fans in this world, dogs are always asking for attention and wanting to constantly have that human contact. Most dogs are big enough to jump on you and lay in your lap, but for these three dogs, Milly, Beyonce, and Meysi, they are trying to just fit in their owner’s hands.

These three precious pups are in the running to become the world’s smallest dog. Milly, a the pint-sized Chihuahua from Puerto Rico who had to be fed with an eyedropper when she was born and stood just 3 inches tall when she reached three months old.  

Next up, we have Beyonce, a tiny pup who fit in a tablespoon at her birth in March and at two weeks old was just the size of an iPhone. Beyonce is the puppy of an abandoned dog that was found on the street. The vets were going to keep the dog in shelter and spay her, knowing she was pregnant. But because the pregnancy was so far along, the doctors decided to keep the litter although they knew that one was abnormally small. That is why this brave pup got her name, because she is a survivor just like Beyonce’s song. For the third contender, and newest pup in the running, is little Meysi a tiny tike from Poland.

 During Meysi’s birth, her owner thought that she was just a piece of placenta that came out of her mother, and the caretakers were going to throw it away until they saw it moving. They didn’t think she was going to make it with only weighing 1.58 ounces at her birth. Meysi grew to her current weight of 3.25 ounces but is not expected to grow much more, veterinarians told the three month old mother of Meysi.

Now the race is on to see who will be Guinness World Records smallest dog. The guidelines specify that dogs must be at least one year old to be recognized as the smallest dog. The organization does not recognize smallest puppy
